Varun Sharat has spent his entire life helping people get their dream jobs – knowingly and unknowingly. Born in Jakarta, Indonesia, he’s had the good fortune of living in seven different countries and being introduced to countless cultures. Adaptable to any climate, he found at an early age that his friends were always asking him for advice, a theme that would recur again and again in his life.

After graduating from UCLA with a B.A. in Geography, he had stops at Wells Fargo in the Investment Banking & Capitals Markets division as well as Asset Management for Citi. While there, friends would often come to him for advice on their own careers, picking his brain for the inside knowledge that he had. As he advised his friends on their careers, he fell in love with seeing people get a job they could only dream of before working with him. With this newfound passion, he decided to pursue his MBA from NYU’s Stern School of Business so he could combine his business acumen and love for career guidance. After gaining even more experience within Hedge Fund, Private Equity, and Venture Capital while at Stern, he founded HeadStart Careers – the industry leader in helping people find their purpose in life. 

A continual student, Varun loves learning new things and thinks this has been integral to his success in career advancement for others. When not working, he enjoys living a balanced and healthy life. Whether it’s painting and drawing, something he has done since a young age, or learning about new cultures, he is always enjoying himself. He feels blessed to have found his calling in life and wants to help others find their dream job, just as he has found his.
